Micro Finance Client - Mr. I M Karunarathne

Mr. I. M. Karunarathna and his family live in a remote village in the Matale district, where they are deprived of the luxury of Grid Electricity. Mr. Karunarathna, a laborer with a daily wage of Rs.400/- came to LOLC, 2 years a go to seek financial assistance to purchase a Solar Home System for Rs.50,000/-.

"We were tired of using kerosene lamps," he explains."I wanted to give my children a better future than we had. We were worried about taking a lease at first, but LOLC came up with an installment of Rs.1700/- a month."

Today the solar panel supplies their little home with enough electricity, so that their children are able to study better and secure a brighter future.
